Privacy Policy

BID provides farm and property sensor monitoring for organisations. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we handle information received through Google sign-in.

Information We Collect

We collect account information such as your name, email address, authentication identifiers, organisation membership, role, and account settings. If you choose Continue with Google, we receive the Google account information needed to sign you in, such as your Google user identifier, email address, and basic profile details.

We collect organisation and site information, including organisation names, site names, descriptions, addresses, time zones, coordinates, site licensing status, and location confidence data generated from connected devices.

We collect sensor and telemetry information, including device serial numbers, device type, asset names, setup status, battery level, signal and quality indicators, map placement, sensor readings, timestamps, alerts, and exported CSV-ready history.

If you upload a property map background, we store that image and related map adjustments so authorised organisation members can view the map. We also receive subscription and payment status from PayFast, but payment card details are handled by PayFast and do not reach BID.

We may collect technical and security information such as IP address, user agent, request timing, authentication events, rate-limit events, error logs, and audit records needed to operate and protect the service.

How We Use Information

We use information to create and secure accounts, authenticate users, manage organisations and roles, connect devices to authorised organisations, show dashboards and property maps, process telemetry, generate alerts, support CSV exports, manage subscriptions, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, telemetry, property maps, or Google user data. We do not use this information for third-party advertising or to determine credit worthiness.

Google User Data

BID uses Google sign-in only to let you authenticate to your BID account. We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Photos, or other Google product content unless a future feature clearly asks for that permission in context.

Information received from Google APIs is used only to provide or improve user-facing BID features, such as sign-in, account identification, and account security. BID's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How We Share Information

We share information with service providers that help operate BID, including Supabase for authentication, database, and storage infrastructure, PayFast for subscription payment processing, and hosting or infrastructure providers used to deliver the service.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, to investigate abuse or security incidents, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to applicable notice and consent requirements.

Storage, Security, and Retention

BID uses access controls, row-level permissions, private storage, signed URLs, server authentication checks, and operational logging to protect data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, but we design the service to limit access to authorised users and administrators.

We retain account, organisation, billing, device, telemetry, map, and audit data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain historical dashboards and exports, comply with legal or tax obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the platform. Backup copies may persist for a limited period after deletion.

Your Choices

You can sign out at any time, manage organisation access through the product's organisation tools, cancel eligible subscriptions through the billing flow, and request correction or deletion of personal information where applicable. Organisation owners may need to preserve some operational, billing, or telemetry records for legitimate business, legal, or security reasons.

You can also manage Google account access from your Google Account security settings. Removing Google access may stop Google sign-in from working until you reconnect it or use another supported sign-in method.

Children

BID is intended for business, farm, and property operations. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International Processing

BID and its service providers may process and store information in countries other than the country where you are located. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border processing.

Changes and Contact

We may update this policy as BID changes. If a change materially affects how we use Google user data or other personal information, we will update this page and, where required, provide additional notice or request consent.

For privacy questions or data requests, contact BID using the support email configured for the BID Google OAuth consent screen or the contact channel provided in your BID onboarding materials.
