Terms of Service

These terms govern access to BID, a farm and property sensor monitoring service for organisations. By creating an account, signing in, subscribing, claiming a device, or using BID, you agree to these terms.

Accounts and Organisations

You must provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure. If you use BID on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms and manage that organisation's devices, members, and subscription.

Organisation owners are responsible for inviting and removing members, assigning roles, transferring ownership, managing billing, and ensuring that devices are installed and used lawfully at each site.

Google Sign-In

You may sign in using Google where available. Google sign-in is used for authentication and account identification only. Your use of Google sign-in is also subject to Google's terms and privacy controls.

Subscriptions, Billing, and PayFast

Access to BID dashboards and device data may require an active paid subscription. The current in-product base subscription price is R200 per month unless a different price is shown at checkout or agreed with you in writing.

Payments are processed by PayFast. BID does not receive your card details. Subscription status, payment references, renewal dates, cancellation status, and related billing metadata may be stored so we can activate or limit service access.

You may cancel eligible subscriptions through the billing flow. Unless required by law or expressly stated at checkout, payments already made are not refundable, and access may continue until the end of the paid period.

Devices, Telemetry, and Property Maps

BID helps display readings from supported IoT sensors, including water level, soil resistivity, soil pH, pipe flow, humidity, battery, and related device health signals. Readings depend on device installation, connectivity, calibration, power, and environmental conditions.

You are responsible for installing devices safely, using them only where you have the right to do so, keeping claim codes and device credentials secure, and checking equipment before relying on readings. BID is a monitoring aid and is not a substitute for professional engineering, agronomy, safety, irrigation, environmental, or emergency advice.

Property map backgrounds, asset names, device names, site coordinates, and sensor placements should only contain information you are authorised to upload and share with members of your organisation.

Acceptable Use

You must not misuse BID, interfere with the service, attempt unauthorised access, bypass rate limits or security controls, claim devices you do not own or manage, upload unlawful content, reverse engineer protected parts of the service, or use BID to harm people, property, networks, or other systems.

Your Data and Licence to Operate the Service

You retain rights to the information you submit to BID, subject to any rights held by your organisation or its members. You grant BID the limited right to host, process, transmit, display, and back up that information as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the service.

Our handling of personal information and Google user data is described in the Privacy Policy.

Service Changes and Availability

We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features as the product develops. We aim to keep BID reliable, but the service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, network failures, third-party providers, device connectivity, or events outside our reasonable control.

Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, fail to pay required fees, create security or legal risk, misuse the service, or if continued operation would expose BID, users, providers, or others to harm. You may stop using BID at any time.

Disclaimers and Liability

BID is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that readings, alerts, location classifications, exports, or maps will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, or suitable for a specific operational decision.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BID will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or loss-of-profit damages, or for losses caused by device failure, incorrect installation, connectivity issues, third-party services, or decisions made solely from sensor readings.

Governing Law

Unless a written agreement with you says otherwise, these terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes and Contact

We may update these terms as BID changes. The updated date above shows when the current terms were last revised. Continued use of BID after updated terms are posted means you accept the updated terms.

For questions about these terms, contact BID using the support email configured for the BID Google OAuth consent screen or the contact channel provided in your BID onboarding materials.
